I'm happy to announce that there will be no changes in pricing for the 2010 season. There are still openings for the summer 2010 wedding season, and you can still get a full package for as little as $900.00!
This includes your engagement photos, a full day of shooting, the custom made photo book, and of course, full personal usage rights to your photos.

Summer and the high wedding season is winding down, this means photographers like myself have a little more time on our hands to do other things, like get creative with people with different talents.
Tracy here is a dancer/figure skater/model and nursing student! Wow, that's some busy lady, but she took time out to hang out in a park with myself and my team and make some photos.
I've still got some work to do on them, but this early post roared out of the camera almost complete, and had to be shared.

This fun couple was not dissuaded by the frigid Manitoba winter weather and we enjoyed a few hours of working together to get some great photos.
We spent some time indoors and more out playing in the snow at the forks, where Dagmara, with a little provocation from me, sprung a little surprise snowball attack on Paul.
It was a day filled with laughter, and this couple's love for each other.

Stripped Fashion Show!

And what a show it was!

I was invited back to shoot the full show last night, hosted in the Graffiti Gallery in downtown Winnipeg. The night was chilly, with the first cold fall wind blowing in, but inside it was hot, hot, HOT!

The event was completely sold out, and with good reason. The creations of local designers ranged from the hot 'n sexy to the high fashion for cooler nights, and everything in between.

Featuring the work of several local designers, and organized by Elayna Bilous, the event was a brilliant success, and is sure to warrant a follow up for next season!

Manitoba Comicon at a glance

Well, it's been over a week since Comic-con ended, and now the wrap-up begins.

A full week of editing resulted in a comprehensive collection for the organizers, as well as this great overview of the whole event.
The wrap-up meeting and party is in a week's time, when I'll be presenting a special gift from tedsaliphoto.ca to the event organizers.

I don't get that much rest these days, though, as I have yet another high profile event happening on Sunday. I've been invited back by the same crew that put on the Blood Candy event to shoot the Stripped Fashion show this Sunday at the Graffiti Gallery. Doors open to the public at 7:30, and many designers will be represented. I'll be there catching all the action, so you should be there too!

Manitoba Comic Con 2008

Whew, the Manitoba Comic and Sci-Fi Convention has wrapped up, and I've got photos aplenty!

Before I hand over the password to see the 278 images in the proofing section, I want to share a few great things about this event.
Conventions of this sort used to be considered the thing only guys went to, and the kind of guy who spent far too much time in his basement, that is not the case at all.

These events are a great time for the entire family, especially the kids.

Aside from that, these events do a lot of fund raising and community support programs. There are auctions of art donated by the guests with all the proceeds going to local community programs, and gift passes are given out to those special kids in our communities, and let me just say that by itself makes everything worthwhile.

My favorite part of the convention was a conversation I had with an 8 year old boy who was confined to a wheelchair. He's a great guy, and has a very positive attitude that makes me feel like kind of a baby about my aches and pains. The best thing about his convention, when he got to meet his heroes for real, he was the one flying, despite what life had dealt to him.

Also, the volunteers, I have to give special credit to them. This event was non-profit and run entirely by volunteers. I'm talking about people so dedicated to putting on this show for everyone, they take the two weeks off before the convention and spend that whole time helping to pull it together! Talk about super-heroes!

Last but not least, the organizers of this program, the board I had the pleasure of working with since July. You guys know who you are, and you did a magnificent job. Congratulations, and thanks so much for making me part of your event.

Comiccon Day One completed. Wow, what a busy, busy day.
I've got hundreds of images to go through, so I figured I'd post a teaser for now.
This shot was taken while wating for the judging on the Costume Contest. The original image was underexposed a couple stops to make it a little darker and more moody, then I really worked it in Lightroom.
Result: instant movie poster.
There will be more posts later, Lots and Lots of posts. I will be putting a large number into a proofing gallery too, so stop by for the super not-so-secret password!

I've had the pleasure of working with a few very talented local services, and I'd like to showcase a few here.

Splurge Beauty:
Located on River Avenue in Osbourne village, Splurge is a full service hair, make up, body and bath boutique. Their extensive service and product line includes a private line of cosmetics, and hand crafted luxury bath products.

Roger Medina Hair:
Roger and his team are based out of Osbourne village as well, but travel to your event. Able to do a wide range of looks, Roger and his team can handle everything from your wedding to full scale fashion shows.

Veronica Davis Designs:
Highlighted at the Blood Candy Event that I covered earlier this week, I'd like to make note of her again. Trained in South Beach Florida on the international scene, she's brought her talent back to Winnipeg to build the local scene

Welcome to the official tedsaliphoto.ca news blog!

Things are kicking off with the launch of the new website, and to celebrate I spent the evening shooting the exciting Blood Candy fundraiser!

Blood Candy, organized by Elayna Bilous and hosted by Hi-Fi Club in Osbourne Village, was a fun, Vampire themed party to raise funds for the upcoming "Stripped" fashion show.

Featuring fashions from many local designers, Stripped will be promoting the emerging Winnipeg fashion scene, and will be held in the Grafitti Gallery on Sunday, October 26.

The Blood Candy event was a great time for everyone there, well, Elayna looked a little stressed at first, but even she got into things and was dancing up a storm by 11:00.

I had the amazing luck of being able to work with two other very talented photographers, Brook Jones of River City Photography and Christopher Santos of Red Scarf Photography. Also present, but sans his camera, was my friend and a guy who can teach me a thing or two as well, Phillip Natividad of Harmony Fotohouse.Before things got going too much, I got a chance to chat with designer Veronica Davis, who started out her career jumping in with both feet in South Beach Florida, and worked in the international fashion industry. Veronica has decided to return to Winnipeg, and bring her talent with her to grow the local fashion industry, good for us and great for the industry.
